This used to be Nyonya back in the day when it was on 8th ave Sunset Park area. Then another Malaysian place took over before it finally became Langkawi (what it is today). The other Nyonya on 86th st Bensonhurst had closed during Covid which made it harder to find decent Malaysian restaurants. Taste is about the same as most typical Malaysian restaurants but there are less around now as most closed up. Portion size seems to always be on the smaller ends but prices has gone up. I usually enjoy the basic curry and Hainanese chicken as I have a crustacean allergy and is concerned about shrimp paste in most of their dishes. When I get Sarang Burung, I always ask for no shrimp. I went recently with my cousin and friend for a nice late luncheon. We enjoyed Hainanese Chicken, Roti Canal and Tofu Satay together. I also got a curry noodle soup for myself and my cousin got a seafood noodle soup. Very good. Long wait for the bathroom (single) in the back. Not very busy around 1pm on a Sunday. Staff clutter in the back and you have to flag them over to get refill on tea and water.

The only negative is that it's cash only so be prepared for that. Food tastes good and service was fairly quick.

I don't know what cuisine this falls under, but it's delicious. Every item is a hit at this family style restaurant without breaking the bank. Seating is limited but we got lucky with a large table. It's not too busy either so you don't have to wait. Waitstaff is friendly and available. Seems to be a hidden gem.

This place is one of my go to spots to be honest, I come here very often to get the same 3 items on the menu, pineapple fried rice, half hainese chicken and the roti canai. It's always consistent every time I come here randomly. When I just want to sit and eat alone. The food always comes out pretty fast if you get there early in the afternoon. This place is cash only. The staff is always attentive. Very spacious, lots of seating I even bring my friends here to eat sometimes bc the food prices isn't so bad either.

I stopped by langkawi for dinner on a weeknight. The restaurant had a decent amount of people for a later dinner time. We ordered the roti canai I'm very pleasantly surprised that the quality of food since the name has changed so i assume there has been a change of ownership. I was a frequent diner at the nyonya franchise of Malaysian restaurants in New York and will be back to langkawi. Roti canai: still flaky and the curry is super flavorful chicken and shrimp in taro nest: super good and one of my favorite dishes
